The House of Ruth Programs and Services center is a domestic violence shelter that provides safe housing for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. While at the shelter, women receive support from staff and peer support groups. If they choose, individual counseling is available to them. The House of Ruth provides housing for up to 90 days for those in Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding and Williams counties and up to 30 days for those not in the service area.
The shelter provides safe housing in a home-like atmosphere. No fees are charged. Since many women literally leave with “the clothes on their back,” the shelter provides all personal hygiene products, bedding, towels, etc. as well as room and board. The house is a “home” complete with a kitchen, family room, 5 bedrooms, playroom, laundry facilities, and a fenced in backyard.
