House of Ruth's Impact

The House of Ruth in Defiance is the only comprehensive domestic violence and sexual abuse agency providing 24/7 support, emergency shelter, and community-based services in the 5-county area. Last year, our team responded to more than 180 requests for services, served more than 150 survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and housed nearly 73 individuals for an average of 38 days.

The House of Ruth serves women and their children, and is one of the few agencies of its kind in the 5-country area to be able to house survivors and their families. Though we do not house family pets we do have programs that will house them until the survivors are able to find a permanent home and welcome the pet back. Programs and services are provided at no cost to survivors and their families throughout their lifetimes.
